TL;DR: You do not have to use Laundry Pump. It is the quickest way to hit an exact 4 mL a press, and Laundry Dosing Cup measures the same doses by hand if you would rather pour. Either way, getting the dose right matters, because Sensitive Laundry Liquid is concentrated.
Do I need to use Laundry Pump?
Screws onto the bag-in-box and gives 4 mL a press, so there is nothing to measure. Four presses for a small load, six for a normal one, ten for large or heavily soiled.
Food-grade silicone with embossed millilitre markers at 24 mL and 40 mL. Pour, measure, tip it in. Put it in the drum with the load and it cleans itself. Nothing to prime and nothing to maintain.

Why does accurate dosing matter?
⚠ Dose for the load, not by eye
Sensitive Laundry Liquid is concentrated, so a small amount cleans a full load. Too much can leave residue on clothes and make the rinse work harder. Too little leaves soil in the water with nowhere to go. Small or lightly soiled loads take 16 mL, a normal load takes 24 mL, and a large or heavily soiled load takes 40 mL.
